Anything else?

By Friday, I finally felt completely back to normal. I no longer had golf balls sticking out of my throat, and it didn't feel on fire. I did the 10-6 circuit training workout from Peanut Butter Fingers, I expected it to be tough, but I didn't make it past round 3 and burnt 300 calories haha. Definietly doing that guy again.

Unfortunately, I hosted a girls night that night, where I got really drunk and suffered from a godawful hangover the following day. And of course I slept on my hip weird, so now my other hip is hurting me like crazy. If its not one thing, its another, right? Argh. I probably could have forced a workout today, but the fact that walking was hard deterred me.

So instead of hitting up the gym and working out as planned, I've sat on my ass and ate all weekend (and caught up on Pretty Little Liars. That last episode pissed me off. You don't just LEAVE stuff like that on the table!)

I haven't been terrible.  And, I tracked everything, but I totally feel chunky and low with my stupid hip pain. Here's hoping its gone by tomorrow :-/ I'm planning on getting back on track, health permitting, we shall see. I'll tell you one thing, I would be a neurotic mess if I lived alone. With Matt away all weekend, I've been jumpy, and last night didn't help:
I got out of babysitting at 2am, and was exhausted. I was walking up to my building in the rain, and glanced over to the bushes. Hiding behind the brick of the building was a tall girl in green shorts. I freaked out and ran inside, convinced she was going to follow me or something. But holy shit! How scary is that? I couldn't fall asleep for like an hour I was shaking so bad :-/

And with that, my plan for the week:

What Happened?

  • I got sick
  • Like real sick. My glands were popping out of my neck like tennis balls. And my throat felt awful. It all started on Saturday, I got up early to go shopping with two friends (the Banana outlet had crazy sales!). I felt rough, but Matt and I had a few beers the night before, so I attributed it to that. Cut to me feeling like I was going to pass out in the line, and it just got worse from there. Swollen glands, sore throat, resting the rest of Saturday, Sunday and then again Monday morning when I woke up feeling worse (if that was possible!). My doctor called it "adnoiditis". I call it taking the train to work with gross people. I went to the store and bought orange juice, the antibiotics, and hand sanitizer, for my train rides going forward haha.
  • I'm finally feeling back to normal today. My throat isn't hurting as much, and I don't feel like passing out because I'm so tired
  • I haven't worked out since last Thursday, but I gave myself a break since I'm sick. I plan on heading back to the gym tomorrow.
  • I still lost two pounds today, which might be because with my sore throat I couldn't eat fast, and got fuller faster haha. But I'm back within a pound and a half of where I was before vacation, which was uplifting :) hopefully that continues!
  • Matt has a bachelor party this weekend (people say all your friends start getting married at the same time, its really true. This is his second this month!), so I'm hosting a girls night tomorrow. I bought some wine for my friends from Sonoma Valley, and am making some truffles and dips. It should be a fun, low key good time :)
My basic plan for the next week:
Thursday- Rest
Friday-video (unless I get out of work early enough to hit up the gym)
Saturday- Gym
Sunday- walking/cardio workout
Monday-cardio
Tuesday- Gym AM
Wednesday- off
Thursday- AM Gym

Eating plan is TBD, but It'll be healthy, I promise!

I'm Baaack!!!

  • Vacation. Was. Awesome. Once I get my pictures sorted I'll update in full, but it was really, really fun, and exactly what I needed
  • I ate too much, drank a lot, and didn't work out. Thankfully San Francisco has a LOT of hills, and we walked everywhere over our trip, so When I peeked on Monday I was only up two pounds. I had fun, it was worth it
  • My official weigh in this morning was 205.0, which is up around 3.5. I'm owing a lot to that to the fact that I don't move without wincing. The one downside from taking a week off. Meh
  • I did (as seen in my sore, sore legs) get right back on the Workout train. I couldn't on Monday, and over the weekend I was just too busy getting unpacked/going to bridal showers etc. But Tuesday morning I dragged my ass out of bed and got my workout in. And then on Thursday I did it again. Not perfect, but still, felt pretty good to get myself right back on that wagon :-)
  • Starting fresh, my workout schedule for my week (starting fresh): Today I went to the gym, so starting tomorrow:
    • Walk/Run (or at least try!) on Friday
    • Saturday-Hiking
    • Sunday-Rest/walk
    • Monday- walking
    • Tuesday-gym
    • Wednesday-Rest/walk
    • Thursday-Gym
  • It's tough coming back from vacation, but I'm slowly easing back into everything. And, while it was awesome, I missed home, and my little life and schedule. So it's good to be back :)

Almost Here!

Vacation, that is!

Sorry for not updating much last week. Between two work events, being damn tired and trying to get ahead on my packing/organizing before my trip, my computer was barely opened last week.

The good news is that I didn't not update because I wasn't sticking with my plan. The truth was I planned ahead, resisted temptation, and got up at 615 to work out twice last week. Which felt really good, to be honest :) I never saw myself as a morning workout person. I'm not a morning person, at all, and so I've always assumed that waking up before work and getting my workouts in was just not for me, I was better off fitting it in after work. But just trying it once made me realize how awesome it felt, to both workout before work (I have so much energy in the morning!) and to be able to come home and just relax, spend some time cooking and relaxing instead of stressing about working out, getting an extra snack in and then making dinner/ helping matt finish up with dinner.

I don't have to feel guilty about doing stuff after work, and skipping my workouts, because I've already got it out of the way! I think the 2X a week for the moment is good for me, because it is nice some days to take a walk after work, or do a video quickly, but who knows? Maybe I'll increase it as it goes along :) I don't like the idea of working out outside in the mornings, just because one thing that sort of comforts me at night is that there are so many people out at the pond/park, where in the morning  there are a lot less people about, which makes me more nervous.

So for now, the balance I have is good for me :) Already this week I've gotten two good workouts in Thursday morning and Friday after work, and then I got a semi ok one in today. Today's workout for some reason just was off. My body was achey, (even though I took yesterday as a total rest day), I couldn't get my heart rate up, and my shoulder was stiff. Just really off and not feeling it at all. So I did 10 minutes of strength and stopped when it was hurting the wrong way, did some ab work and walked on an incline to burn 607 calories. Not too shabby for a "just ok" workout :)

My plan for the rest of the week:
Monday- Lunch- taco salads,
Dinner- ribs, potatoes, veggies
Workout- walking (light, rest)
Tuesday- Lunch-pasta dish
Dinner- Ground turkey, peas, potatoes
Workout- Rest day
Wednesday- Lunch-Pasta Dish
Dinner- turkey tacos
Workout- long walk (higher intensity)
Thursday- Lunch- Pasta Dish
Dinner- At my parents
Workout- AM cardio/Strength

Overall I'll have worked out 5 full times this week (Thursday, Friday, Sunday, Wednesday, Thursday), which is good because I'm not doing any real workouts while on vacation, besides trying to walk a lot while away. It's just not realistic to get a workout in (neither of our hotels have a gym), and I don't want to stress about it.

Happy Labor Day :)

Week 7 (Aug 24-Aug 30)

T minus 4 days till we leave!! My suitcase is in the apartment, and besides watching and obscene amount of Pretty Little Liars, I did a decent amount of cleaning/organizing, so I'm feeling good :)

WI results- 0.00

Work out 4 times a week (classifying a workout to be at least 300 calories burnt)Arbitrary goal is 2000 calories a week
3002 calories burnt, partially thanks to a hike and also because I've been really dedicated with my morning workouts. I'm assuming that has a lot to do with my maintain, I was pretty sore :)

Track everything, pretrack when possible, to help keep me within my daily range
I did track everything, and especially M-F pretracked my food

Limit my drinking to twice a week.
-Drank Friday night, Saturday, and then Tuesday I had two beers at a work event, but other than that Idefinitely limited my drinking this week, which was good!

Limit "treats"to two times a week
I really stayed away from my treats this week, which made me happy to have that kinda willpower

Meal Plan Mondays

My weekend was nice :-) Friday night I had a girls night out, and while there was some drama (including attitude/outright bitchyness which was totally unwarranted), it was a good night, and more importantly I focused on pacing myself and making good choices, at least drink wise.

My dinner consisted of shared nachos and fries, not so healthy :-/ oh well, it was fun :) and I walked a lot, both at lunch and after work while waiting for friends, so I at least earned some of that back!

Saturday I woke up expecting to hike. M's back was bothering him, and didn't want to do a rigorous course, plus it was kind of muggy outside. So instead, I got my ass up and went to the gym, and burnt 580 calories doing mainly strength, with a little exercise bike mixed in. It felt great to start off my day like that, not having to rush or feel like I was putting off my responsibilities. I'm telling ya, these morning workouts (ok it was like 1130, but I didn't wake up till 11 today so it was morning to me), are really working out well, and helping me enjoy my workouts again. I used to love getting into a zone and really focusing on my workouts, the music I was listening to, and my form. When I switched to a smaller gym, and switched jobs away from my old gym, getting that workout became harder, because the new gym is small (but so close!) and almost always crowded after work.

But mornings? There's rarely anyone in there, and if there is, it's like one or two people, which doesn't bother me :)

Post workout I made myself a quick eggs/bacon/sourdough with cheese toast, and then M and I went to the mall to run errands. He had to get fitted for a friend's wedding, and I had something to return. I also made a pit stop at H&M. I normally go into the one downtown, but it's such a mess, and also so busy, so the one in the local mall was a lot less crazed, which was enjoyable. I ended up buying some stuff for fall, and I got 2 long sweaters, a top and a tank top.

Post mall, we headed over to the blue hills and did a nice hike. It was a bit challenging, but not too challenging, and I ended up burning 430 calories, which was about 100 more than I aimed to hit, so I was happy :)

We stopped off at my parents house after the hike (they live nearby), and we had dinner with them and my sisters, which was a nice relaxing treat to not have to cook and spend some more time with my family, especially since my sisters go back to school so soon!

Sunday was spent at my friends rooftop pool, which was likewise extremely relaxing. These past two weekends were totally necessary, and I feel great!

My Mealplan for the week:
Monday
-Lunch-salsa chicken with rice
D-burgers
Tuesday-
Lunch-salsa chicken with rice
D- Zucchini boats
Wednesday-
Lunch- salsa chicken with rice
D- Cheesy Taco Pasta
Thursday-
L-LO Taco Pasta
D- chicken nuggets and "fries"
Friday-
Unsure, I'm a woman alone next weekend, since Matt's at a bachelor party. I might make something he wouldn't eat, and enjoy my freedom :)

Week 6 (8/17/12-8/23/12)

2 Weeks till I'm in Sunny California 8-)

WI results- 0.00

Work out 4 times a week (classifying a workout to be at least 300 calories burnt)Arbitrary goal is 2000 calories a week
1214 Calories burnt in the week, which isn't too shabby considering I didn't get back into working out till Monday, due to hip pain. 2 workouts (and one long walk). I'm ok with that progress

Track everything, pretrack when possible, to help keep me within my daily range
I did track everything, and especially M-F pretracked my food

Limit my drinking to twice a week.
-Drank Saturday, definitely limited my drinking this week, which was good!

Limit "treats"to two times a week
Definitely overindulged a bit Sunday, and then Wednesday night, which was probably why I maintained (And because I wasn't 100%)
