My weekend was nice :-) Friday night I had a girls night out, and while there was some drama (including attitude/outright bitchyness which was totally unwarranted), it was a good night, and more importantly I focused on pacing myself and making good choices, at least drink wise.
My dinner consisted of shared nachos and fries, not so healthy :-/ oh well, it was fun :) and I walked a lot, both at lunch and after work while waiting for friends, so I at least earned some of that back!
Saturday I woke up expecting to hike. M's back was bothering him, and didn't want to do a rigorous course, plus it was kind of muggy outside. So instead, I got my ass up and went to the gym, and burnt 580 calories doing mainly strength, with a little exercise bike mixed in. It felt great to start off my day like that, not having to rush or feel like I was putting off my responsibilities. I'm telling ya, these morning workouts (ok it was like 1130, but I didn't wake up till 11 today so it was morning to me), are really working out well, and helping me enjoy my workouts again. I used to love getting into a zone and really focusing on my workouts, the music I was listening to, and my form. When I switched to a smaller gym, and switched jobs away from my old gym, getting that workout became harder, because the new gym is small (but so close!) and almost always crowded after work.
But mornings? There's rarely anyone in there, and if there is, it's like one or two people, which doesn't bother me :)
Post workout I made myself a quick eggs/bacon/sourdough with cheese toast, and then M and I went to the mall to run errands. He had to get fitted for a friend's wedding, and I had something to return. I also made a pit stop at H&M. I normally go into the one downtown, but it's such a mess, and also so busy, so the one in the local mall was a lot less crazed, which was enjoyable. I ended up buying some stuff for fall, and I got 2 long sweaters, a top and a tank top.
Post mall, we headed over to the blue hills and did a nice hike. It was a bit challenging, but not too challenging, and I ended up burning 430 calories, which was about 100 more than I aimed to hit, so I was happy :)
We stopped off at my parents house after the hike (they live nearby), and we had dinner with them and my sisters, which was a nice relaxing treat to not have to cook and spend some more time with my family, especially since my sisters go back to school so soon!
Sunday was spent at my friends rooftop pool, which was likewise extremely relaxing. These past two weekends were totally necessary, and I feel great!

Picture Perfect Vol 2
To start, I totally got up at 6 tuesday and thursday and worked out for an hour before work :) I won't lie, I kinda liked it. It was so quiet and empty, I could really focus. And I was so invigorated afterwards, knowing I could come home and relax after work guilt free :-) I'm going to start doing it 2X a week, and maybe up it from there. But so far so good :)
My new storage space, Such an improvement! |
And our bureau! |
7:30 AM, 690 calories down :) |

Quiet Weekends
Are for the best, sometimes.
I woke up Friday morning, and my head was all sinusey, and my hips (see that? plural hips as in both ) were aching, not just the left one as was the case early last week. So instead of getting back on the workout train, I kept to my couch watching Pretty Little Liars. Unfortunate, but I'm glad I decided to rest instead of pushing it forward and sidelining myself for another few weeks. I went shopping with my sisters and mom on Friday night. No better place to be but the Christmas Tree Shop on a Friday, haha. Besides one other family, there was no one in there under the age of 65, apparently it's not a hoppin' place at that time :) That said, I got some really nice place mats, and some kitchen gloves that I desperately needed to replace (it was one step away from getting moldy haha), and some other things, so it was worth it :)
My real reason for shopping was I decided since we're staying in this apartment for another year at least, I want to make it more "homey". We still had boxes in the corner of our room, and a bureau that was just waiting to be built, so my goal was to fix everything up.
I spent a good chunk of money at Target, but between the two stores I got a bunch of storage bins, a shoe shelf, and a 9 cube wood organizer thingy (Do they have a name?), in addition to some other stuff to build up the place.
Saturday my hips were still tight, so I made a relatively healthy breakfast (eggs in toast), got a chai tea and got to work. I cleaned the kitchen, picked up the living room, and then got to work building. Over the course of Saturday (with the help of Matt once he got out of work) we built the storage cube, the shoe rack, and 3/4ths of the bureau, which after putting off building for weeks we realized was super easy after all. Sigh.
We also made a kick ass dinner (spaghetti and meatballs), and had some delicious fall beers. I am so ready for the summer to be over, fall is by far my favorite time of year. And not just because I love all things pumpkin, but just the feel and smell in the air, the clothing, the sports (start of football, baseball playoffs eventhoughtheredsoxaretheworstrightnowandareruiningthatforme), just everything. So Excited.
I'm hoping to start working out in the mornings tomorrow. I know if I start, I'll like it and continue. I briefly did it last year, and loved the way I felt going off to work in the morning knowing my workouts were out of the way, and now that my gym is up the street, I have all the more ability to get a good workout in before work, without having to worry about having to find a place to shower, or bring everything with me. I will check in and see how I do :)

Whoops
I got distracted, goddamnit. Once I get good at posting, I fall off the wagon.
To be honest? I got busy late last week (Thursday-Saturday), and then Saturday I got embarrassingly drunk at a cookout, and spent the beginning of this week nursing my bruises (mainly of the ego variety, but I somehow rehurt my hip too).
I won't lie, I was feeling bad for myself on Monday. I was worried I really flared up the bursitis, and would have to go back to the doctors, get another shot, and restart everything that I've worked to remedy over the past 6 months.
Thankfully, ice and rest for the past 3 days have really helped, and I'm thinking I can start working out again either Tomorrow or Friday.
And what's more, I haven't eaten terribly, or thrown caution out the window from a place of self pity. Even Saturday's mess didn't put me way over, because I got a huge workout in that morning (and barely ate anything. But that wasn't from a weight loss place, instead from a hangingoutwithfriendsnotrealizingI'vebeendrinkingfor3hourswithnodinner place. Learned my lesson haha)
Instead I've worked to stay within my calories, walk whenever I can (it actually helps to take short walks and stretch it out, instead of sitting at a desk all day).
And what's more, I made a kick ass tomato garden vegetable soup for lunch this week. It's filling, delicious, and 160 calories a serving :)
So, I'm hopeful that my losses will continue. Or at least I won't gain this week :) We shall see, won't we?

Week 3 (July 26-Aug 2)
Weigh in: 0.0 pounds, so a maintain
A bit frustrating, I'm not going to lie. I worked out like crazy this week, and ate within my calories (while tracking everything. I am seeing a difference though. My legs are longer, my torso more toned and thin. I'll take that over pounds lost. Next week I'm going to do my measurements, compared to when I had done them last winter and see if after a month there is any difference :)
This weekend I'm working out tomorrow night, and then babysitting. Then I'm up bright and early Saturday morning to visit my former college roommate D.
Not sure if I've mentioned her before, but D and I had a mutual friend Freshman year, and hung out a bit sophmore year. but it was really the 2nd half of junior year, when I took our friends spot in their room that we really bonded, and senior year we only got closer. We graduated, she stayed in the greater Fairfield area with a accountant job in line, while I moved back to Boston.
I was always a bit nervous that we would grow apart. Plenty of my friends from college, I barely talk to anymore (if at all), it happens. But if anything, we've grown closer. We only see each other maybe 1-2 times a year, but each time we pick up where we left off, and are both there for each other 100%. Which makes her one of my most important relationships. There are very few people that I know I can call/complain to/laugh with no matter what, so needless to say, I'm very excited, and see a LOT of wine in my future :)
So my goals:
Work out 4 times a week (classifying a workout to be at least 300 calories burnt)Arbitrary goal is 2000 calories a week
Worked out Friday, Saturday, Monday and Tuesday with a walk on Sunday. 2446 calories total
Track everything, pretrack when possible, to help keep me within my daily range
Done
Limit my drinking to twice a week.
-Thursday and Friday night,
Limit "treats"to two times a week
Definitely overindulged a bit on Sunday (Georgetown cupcakes!),and pretzel m&m's on Tuesday.
So I had a pretty good week, I'm going to focus on staying in control this weekend, and into the week. I got a workout in tonight, going to the gym tomorrow night, and then again Monday and Tuesday, to ensure I get my 4 days in :-)
Happy Thursday!
